Text Box: It was with the greatest regret that I learned of the death of Don Castillo, G0SUO. Don was one of the clubs first members, he served many years as Treasurer and for sometime wrote crosswords for the newsletter He will be greatly missed and all our thoughts are with him and his family at this time. Please turn to page 8 for a tribute to Don, pages usually reserved for his crossword.

During July I tried to make an attempt to drum up some funds by holding a Tombola at the Hemel carnival. Unfortunately we did not raise enough money to cover the cost of the prizes. Still we did manage to show a presence at the carnival and I did have one school teacher who made some enquires about the club and met a member of the Burnham Beaches club who was telling me about their involvement with GB50. Below is a picture of the stand.
Again at the July club meeting Tony, G0TPK had arranged a video evening at which was shown a DXpedition to the Fastnet Rock. The expedition was by the Fastnet Force 7 Group and was the first time the Rock was activated by amateurs. Fastnet is located 10 miles south-west of the nearest mainland of Ireland. The Rock its self only measures 100x50 metres. The Lighthouse was completed in 1904, the present tower is 50 metres high and yet the lantern is lashed by the full force of the Atlantic gales.
Tony has arranged to show two more videos at the October meeting entitled 'Secret Life of Radio' and 'Airing Ailsa' both of which should be as equally as good.
Don't forget the next meeting is a junk sale and hopefully there will be a quiz after.
Hope to see you there.
